Health and Sport Committee Social Care Inquiry, SDSS response.

Today we have submitted and published our final response to the very welcome Health and Sport Committee Inquiry on Social Care. Our response draws on feedback from our members, the individuals they support, and early findings from the recent My Support, My Choice research which focuses on user experiences of Self-directed Support.

Ensuring that the voices’ of our members, and the people that they support are heard is central to our work. We would like to thank our members for contributing to this response, and also for their hard work; meaning Independent Support on SDS is available to thousands across Scotland. Additionally, we would like to thank everyone who shared their social care journey with us by participating in the My Support, My Choice research. Full research findings, analysis and recommendations will be published online in national, regional and thematic reports over Spring/Summer 2020. We have requested that the Committee also consider the views and recommendations to be published in the My Support, My Choice research reports in June 2020.

The Inquiry is open for responses until the end of today, SDSS would strongly encourage members to take part. Members are welcome to use our response as a basis for their own.
