Local strategy development

Around the time of the national research project My Support My Choice, SDS Scotland began work with NHS Highland (who administer adult social care across the Highland region) to support the rollout of Self-directed Support locally.

Arising from these discussions, in 2021 a local implementation group was established involving stakeholders from across the region. Their desire was to create a Strategy to support the implementation of SDS across the Highlands. SDS Scotland worked in partnership with our member organisation Community Contacts, which had recently expanded independent SDS support and advice services to the Highlands from its established base in Argyll & Bute. Together, we supported a number of engagement events in the development of the strategy, facilitating the involvement of local organisations and individuals across the Highland region.

As a national organisation, SDS Scotland has been able to contribute best practice examples from other areas to help shape the strategy, and continues to support NHS Highland and other stakeholders with its ongoing development and delivery.

You can access the latest version of the Highland SDS Strategy here.
