Carers Rights Day

We're supporting Carers Rights Day

Thursday 26 November is Carers Rights Day, which aims to bring organisations together to help carers know their rights and learn more about the help and support they’re entitled to.

Did you know that there is a Carers Act which enhances the rights of carers in Scotland, and that carers can also be entitled to Self-directed Support (SDS)?

Self Directed Support Scotland’s website features helpful FAQ videos that answer some questions carers may have. Check them out by clicking the links below.

How can carers access their rights?

Why is there a Carers Act?

What does the new Carers Act change for carers?

Can carers now get SDS?

What happens if the person you care for is admitted to hospital?

Self-directed support for carers (with focus on caring for someone living with dementia):

This event is being run by Age Scotland and Tide (see the Agenda here)

Date: Wednesday 25 November

Time: 3pm – 4:30pm

Our workshop is titled: ‘Getting to Grips with Self Directed Support for Carers’

This will have a focus on explaining what SDS is, how this is relevant to carers and how to find support to enable them to access and make use of SDS. It will also highlight the rights and expectations that carers and people with dementia can have under SDS, how SDS is working during the COVID-19 pandemic and what common challenges people might face on their journey for support.

Book your place here.
