Setting Up a Disabled Person’s Organisation (DPO)
Would you like to be involved in an organisation that promotes disabled people’s rights, challenges discrimination and prejudice and supports the Independent Living movement in Scotland? Would you like your current organisation to become a DPO, or to set up a new DPO for local people?
This session will take a step-by-step approach to setting up a DPO, looking at the challenges involved and how to gather support and maintain momentum.
We will look at areas such as:
- What is a DPO and what makes this different from other organisations?
- Why are DPOs important?
- How do you know local disabled people want or need a DPO?
- How that to involve disabled people & how to become an effective organisation.
